Summary
r2p is supplying an integrated onboard video surveillance and camera-based rear-view mirror solution for 35 modern trams operating in Germany, combining reliable passenger monitoring with advanced technology to support driver visibility and operational safety.
The project involves equipping a new generation of trams with a comprehensive video system that includes IP-based interior cameras, onboard video recording and a SIL 2 safety-rated camera-based rear-view mirror system designed to replace conventional exterior mirrors.
The onboard CCTV system combines an R16-X SLIM video recorder with CD4 and CD9 IP cameras, providing video surveillance throughout the passenger areas. In addition, the camera-based mirror system incorporates CD7-iS rear-view cameras and IMD104 mirror monitors, enabling drivers to observe the areas alongside and behind the vehicle through dedicated displays.
A key feature of the project is the integration of the SIL 2 camera-based rear-view mirror system, which replaces traditional exterior mirrors with a digital solution designed to meet defined functional safety requirements.
HORIZON Remote Video Management Software complements the onboard hardware by providing remote video management capabilities.
By supplying the complete video system for integration during vehicle production, r2p supports the implementation of a coordinated solution combining CCTV, digital rear-view technology and remote management.
