Summary
r2p provides an integrated Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) and monitoring solution for a diverse public transport fleet of 148 vehicles in Germany, including 84 buses, 17 trams and 47 subway trains.
The project combines high-accuracy passenger counting technology with centralised hardware monitoring, supporting consistent passenger data collection across different modes of public transport.
APC sensors installed in the door areas of the vehicles capture boarding and alighting movements with a counting accuracy of over 98%. This provides reliable passenger count data across the entire fleet, enabling operators to gain valuable insights into passenger volumes and usage patterns.
Complementing the onboard counting technology, our Horizon Platform provides live monitoring of APC hardware, allowing operators to oversee the status of installed system components across the fleet. This centralised approach supports efficient system supervision and helps identify potential technical issues.
By implementing a consistent APC solution across buses, trams and subway trains, r2p supports standardised passenger counting and centralised hardware monitoring within a multimodal public transport network.
The result is a scalable passenger counting infrastructure combining precise data collection with efficient system monitoring across 148 vehicles.
