Summary
r2p supplied an integrated CCTV and remote video management solution for 41 new double-deck trains operating in Austria, supporting the modernisation of regional rail transport with advanced onboard surveillance technology.
The project involved equipping both four-car and six-car electric multiple units with a comprehensive IP-based video surveillance system designed to monitor passenger interiors and exterior areas. The solution combines high-definition PoE cameras, compact onboard video recorders and our Horizon Remote Video Management Software to provide reliable video recording and remote system management capabilities.
Each train is equipped with R16-X SLIM recorders featuring 2 TB of removable storage, CD9-i PoE cameras for passenger areas and CD7-iS exterior cameras. Together, these components create an integrated surveillance infrastructure tailored to the requirements of modern double-deck rail vehicles.
By supplying the CCTV technology directly to the train manufacturer, r2p supported seamless integration of the system during vehicle production. Dedicated project management ensured coordination throughout the implementation process.
With Horizon, the solution also enables the remote management of onboard video systems, supporting efficient operation and maintenance across the train fleet.
The result is a scalable CCTV infrastructure that combines reliable onboard video surveillance with centralised remote management capabilities, supporting safe and efficient regional rail operations.
